VICTORIAN Antique
9K ROSE GOLD GODDESS DIANA CAMEO Brooch PIN Masterfully Carved Left Facing
DIANA/ARTEMIS Cameo 1870
Lovely
Miniature Antique Victorian Cameo of the Goddess Diana/Artemisc.1860-70
One
of the finest carvings of Goddess Diana I have ever seen.
Truly of museum quality. Lovely miniature VICTORIAN Sardonyx
CAMEO OF the Greek GODDESS DIANA/Artemis (Goddess of hunting
and childbirth). Diana is known as the moon goddess; a
tiny cresent moon can be seen on top of her head. It is
a superb carving with the finest attention to detail.
It dates to c.1860-70. Diana (unique left-facing profile)
wears a robe which sits langorously over her right shoulder.
Each tendril of her wavy hair is realistically rendered.
It is set into what appears to be, its original 9K Rose
gold mount. It is in excellent condition; without chips,
or cracks or hairlines. Also has what appears to be its
original tube-hinge, c-clasp, & extended pin stem
(with a slight bend), all in good working order. The carving
is done in sardonyx hardstone or a very helmet shell variety.
The cameo is miniature in size.
A
mere, .75" long x just over .75" wide
Diana
was the hunting goddess, associated with wild animals
and woodlands. She also later became a moon goddess, supplanting
Luna, and was an emblem of chastity. Oak groves were especially
sacred to her. She was praised in poetry for her strength,
athletic grace, distinct beauty and hunting skill. In
practice she made up a trinity with two other Roman deities:
Egeria the water nymph, her servant and assistant midwife;
and Virbius, the woodland god. In her etymology, "Diana"
is simply :"the Goddess", with a Greek parallel
in the name — though not the cult practice —
of Dione at Dodona. She was goddess of fertility and quick
to anger. ID=goddessdianabrooch

Victorian Sterling SILVER BUTTERFLY WING Kingfisher BROOCH.
Measures 1" long x 3/4" wide c. 1878-79.
Wonderful
reverse painted Kingfisher brooch on genuine Blue Morpho
Butterfly wings. A very colorful bird sitting on a branch
with some plant life behind him. He is painted inside
bubbled convex or bubble crystal and mounted onto the
Morpho wings, so that the natural blue iridescence shines
through the glass, and up through the painting. The piece
really glows in the right light. Frame is (tested) sterling
silver, the brooch dates anywhere between 1878-1879. On
the back is the pat no. 202213, and the word SILVER. The
brooch tests as sterling silver.
In
very good condition . It retains what appears to be, its
original tube-hinge, c-clasp and extended pin stem.ID=silverbutterflywingbrooch

GEORGIAN 14K & SS Rose Cut Diamond Heart Pendant
Georgian
pendant (new chain 16 inch) unmarked, but done in 14K
yellow gold and sterling silver.
The pendant measures 20mm x 17mm, without the 2 sides
bails.
It
features 30 rose cut diamonds at approximately 1mm in
size, with an estimated tdw of .30cts.
Condition
is excellent, with less than age appropriate wear, and
especially considering the age of this piece.
If
you're not familiar with rose cut diamonds, they have
a gray appearance and in this particular item, they
are difficult to photograph. I've already taken numerous
pictures at different angles, with different backgrounds
& different lighting and this is as good as you're
gona get, sorry!
This
is an old estate piece and it's survived it's years
remarkably well, so if you're a collector of authentic
georgian jewelry, this is a must have! I believe this
is a Witch's Heart Pendant as it tilts to the right.

Victorian Mourning Brooch/Pendant with
Enameling and Braided Hair Memento c. 1860-70
A Memorial/Mourning, brooch with original beveled rock
crystal front which holds beneath it, a sentimental
woven reddish brown hair memento. It is surrounded by
an extraordinarily ornate glossy black enameling with
wonderful hand etched gold scalloping. I see no damage
to the front crystal nor any enamel losses. Mourning
pins of this type were during the Georgian/Victorian
eras. This one dates to about c.1860-70.
The
original antique c-catch, tube hinge and extended pin
stem all in excellent condition. The safety pin loop
and bale are in place. This could be used to convert
the piece into a pendant.
Measures
2" long x 1.50" wide.
In
the largely forgotten craft of hairwork, practiced widely
in nineteenth-century America, the hair of loved ones--living
and deceased--was woven into jewelry, wall decorations,
and keepsakes. Rings, bracelets, lockets, and brooches
were set with metalwork or ivory and painted with rich
patterns. Pocket watches hung from long, woven hair
fobs. Parlor walls were decorated with elaborate wreaths
made of hair fashioned into twigs and flowers, often
adorned with beads or ribbons. ID=mourninghairbroochgold/enamel/hair

Antique Victorian Black Enamel & Gold Plated (gold
filled) Mourning Bangle Bracelet is in very good condition.
There are a couple of tiny chips to the enamel on the

the engraved ribbon- like decoration to the front but
this is hardly visible to the naked eye. Otherwise the
gold plate shows no signs of rubbing & is smooth
& lustrous.
The
bangle has a push in fastener with safety chain.
The
width is 0.5" & the internal diameter is 2.25"
thus it will only fit a slim wrist. ID=mourningbraceletenamelgoldplateribbon

A
fine and high quality piece of Antique 19th Century
Mourning Momento Mori attire, a round pendant, the black
material of carved Jet as evidenced by the distinct
carving lines on the unpolished back side, the bezel
is. I believe a heavy rolled Gold plate although could
be solid, it has the look but I will not bother to test
this as it is a destructive method and the pendant is
virtually untouched, fine condition. The five tiny seed
Pearls in the shape of a Flower are genuine and lovely
and most likely carry a meaning . The age is circa 1850-90,
the origin most likely English. Fastened with a Lever
back pin in a "c" clasp.
SIZE:
1" in diameter. CONDITION: exquisite, excellent,
no damage or wear. A beautiful addition to a Mourning
Jewelry collection. ID=jetseedpearlmourningbroochpendant
Nice
circular pendant disk shaped with panes of blue, red,
lime green. Each pane is surrounded by gold (filled)
The piece measures 1 inch in diameter. The disc has
an attachment that looks like it was made for a ribbon.
Condition is very good. This looks to be a very old
piece judging by the very fine detail on the pendant
and attachment. ID=pliqueajourpendantmedal
Antique VICTORIAN Mourning PIN
Black Glass Older clasp
This
is a black glass topped pin that measure about 2 1/4"
square. This is a mourning pin as ladies and girls had
to wear black clothing and even jewelry for at least
a year after the death of a loved on. It has old base
metal in now antiqued patina goldtone with ball beaded
edges. It has the older c-clasp pin shanks and you can
see the shanks extend a bit of the pin another sign
it is older. The black glass set is in good shape and
despite the photos no white spots. No nicks or chips
just a tiny miniscule roughness on one edge. Not seen
unless under camera scrutiny. There is a small area
where you can see how the mounted the set on the side.
As in those times a lot of these were purchased at local
jewlerers..
